18-Feb-08 Compilation of Extra Framework Sites in Zeolites by W.J. Mortier (1982)
  The Compilation of Extra Framework Sites in Zeolites by W.J. Mortier published in 1982 by Butterworth & Co. has been out of print for many years, but there are still occasional requests for it. Mike Treacy has now scanned a copy of the book (provided by Wilfried Mortier) and created a pdf file. We have been given permission by Elsevier to make this pdf file available on the IZA website. It can be accessed via the Database of Zeolite Structures (click on PDF on the Database entry page) or by clicking on the book title above.

20-Dec-07 Database of AlPO Syntheses
    Dr. Jiyang Li, Prof. Jihong Yu and Prof. Ruren Xu have just made their
      Database of AlPO Syntheses
    available on the web.  It contains data gathered from the literature on more than 1600 syntheses and over 200 AlPO structures.  Each entry in the database includes a literature reference, detailed information about the source materials, the template and the synthesis conditions, and the structural characteristics of the product.  All fields are searchable.  You can access it via the Database of Zeolite Structures under "Other Links".  Your comments, suggestions and corrections are very welcome and should be sent to Prof. Yu at jihong@jlu.edu.cn.

23-Apr-07 Joseph V. Smith 1928-2007
    It is with great sadness that we report the death of Professor Joseph V. Smith on April 6, 2007. His publications on zeolite structures and framework achitectures have fascinated zeolite scientists for almost 50 years, and will be sorely missed. He served as a consultant and as a member of the Structure Commission of the IZA from its inception in 1977 until 2001. Some more details on his life and achievements have been compiled by the University of Chicago, where he was the Louis Block Professor Emeritus in Geophysical Sciences, and by Werner H. Baur, a fellow zeolite crystallographer.
